鶯歌の土は陶器の製造に非常に適しており、
多くの陶工たちがその上質な土に魅せられて鶯歌にやってきた。
清の時代になると鶯歌での陶器の製造が盛んになり、その技術レベルも最高潮に達した。
日本時代になって鶯歌駅ができ、物流環境が最新のものになり、鶯歌の陶磁器産業は目覚ましく発展した。
現在に至るまで鶯歌人口の8割は陶磁器産業に従事している。
1962年アメリカで開かれた万博では、鶯歌陶磁器の美しさと求めやすい価格により、欧米各国は台湾陶磁器を高く評価するようになった。
1967年になると、鶯歌の陶磁器産業は全国の市場の5割から6割を占めるようになった。ここになって、大小の陶磁器会社が林立するようになり、専門学校を開設するようにもなり、商品の種類も多元化した。
It was when people did not know about the place called Yingge, the kiln soil of the place appealed many ceramic artisans. The kiln soil in Yingge as the vital element for ceramics, have the best quality and property to make ceramics. In fact, in the time of Qing dynasty, ceramic business prevails in the streets of Yingge. In that time, the ceramic techniques have become well known in the area. Then, pottery manufacturing business reaches the peak of its time.
Although, it was not until the opening of Yingge train station, the reputation of Yingge ceramics flies rapidly around Taiwan. As the worlds recognition, the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair was the first introduction of Yingge ceramics. It successfully aroused the attentions of western countries for the high quality and impeccable deal of Taiwanese ceramic industries.
In Yingge, there are schools inherit the ceramic cultural art of Yingge, specialized ceramic courses were established for students, and students from elementary to senior high school in Yingge are required for taking the course. Nowadays, there are 80% of the people in Yingge have benefited from the ceramic business and it now have 50 to 60 percent of ceramic market in Taiwan.
